Getting started

Four steps from the download to your own data on screen.

Unzip the folder and keep it somewhere permanentUnzip both files into a folder you will keep, for example a ForesightSA UDM folder under Documents. Power BI pulls the data from the workbook wherever you put it, so if you move the files later you point Power BI at the new folder.

Open the report and set the file locationOpen the .pbix in Microsoft Power BI Desktop, then Home → Transform data → Edit parameters. Set WorkbookPath to the full path of PL_Demo_Data.xlsx in your folder, then Close & Apply and refresh.

Change the UDM and refreshMove a row, rename a section, add a subtotal or change a colour on the UDM sheet, save the workbook, then refresh the report. The matrix follows the sheet, with no DAX to edit.

Bring in your own General LedgerReplace GenTransaction, GenMaster and GenGroups with your own data, build your mapping on the UDM Input sheet, and copy the result from UDM Built into the UDM sheet. The How to use the UDM sheet covers each column.
